Mizerable was Gackt's first solo single. With blonde hair, and a gothique-style, he shot to popularity with four songs on his first mini-album. Later, he released another single with Mizerable and it's instrumental. On this disc, there was also an instrumental called "Story". This is actually his "Work In Progress" of Saikai ~Story~.
Despite his horrible dancing in the Promotional Video, Vanilla took off harder than Mizerable, hitting the charts. Clad in black leather, this single was his second in his solo career. Beginning to pull away from the Malice Mizer sort of style, he began to branch into a mix of pop/rock. On this single, was also the instrumental and the unplugged, or, acoustic, version of the song.
With the beautiful violin stylings of his guitarist, You, Gackt's 3rd single was his first of the new millenium. This single also included an instrumental entitled "Blue" and the instrumental of Mirror.
Just a week after Mirror was released, Gackt lead us into a desert-fantasy called Oasis. Along with this song, this fourth single included Uncertain Memory. This single, as is his style, included both songs' instrumentals, as well.
Sekirei was Gackt's last single before his first album. Leading us into an almost dream-like world of winter, the PV illustrates the idea of him dying. Sekirei is the Japanese word for "Wagtail". (I would suggest Wiki-ing the word because, although I understand it's meaning, I could never coherently explain it. x.x) This single didn't just include the instrumental for Sekirei, but also a strings arrangement instrumental.
Gackt's first full album. Showing off his lovely falsetto voice in a number of songs, Gackt struck the hearts of many with this album. The song, U+K, is rumored to have been written for Kami, the late drummer of Malice Mizer. After reading Gackt's autobiography, Jihaku, he does state he wrote a song to vent about Kami's untimely death, but he doesn't tell us which one. Why people believe a bunch of guys in cats suits is meant for Kami, I'll never know. But aside from the rediculousness of it, it's a beautiful song. The other song on the album that touched many was Dears. Dears are what Gackt calls his fans. Because they are very dear to him. He wrote the song specifically for his fans, and the words are very powerful.

This song is just beautiful. I've seen Gackt cry at least twice when singing live. The single that followed his album, Gackt puts so much passion and emotion into this song, even on the CD version, it's a crime not to love this song. Anyone remember the first single that had "Story" on it? Can't find the song anywhere? That's because it's the instrumental to this song. He just finally added lyrics to it in this disc. With an updated instrumental, this disc was released, and with a bonus of a live version of Dears. There's really no difference in versions of Dears that I can tell, other than the English words in the beginning of the track "For my Dears". o.o;
My taste in music is bad, so never go by what I say is 'good' or 'bad'. I don't much care for Secret Garden myself. But it's a good song. His falsetto creeps into this song a few times and it just balances it out perfectly. Also on this single, he released a song called Nine Spiral, which I also don't care for so much. (Again, bad taste in music!) Nine Spiral, is also a good song, though. He utalizes his baritone-ish voice more in this song. And the two songs on the same disc, one being a slower-ballad type and the other being hard-core metal, make for the perfect Yin-Yang situation. :) This single included an instrumental for Secret Garden, but not for Nine Spiral. My suspicions is that it was just too heavy to sound very good without Gackt's soultry voice to even it out. >.>
Something about the title song always makes me fall in love with Gackt all over again. Wheather it's the upbeat music in the background, or the slightly higher (somewhat cuter) pitch he sings it in, something about this song sparks the true Gacktophile in me. The other song released on the first single of 2001 was Cube, another heavy song. Like his previous single, the heavier song and lighter song on the same disc make for the perfect balance. And, like his previous single, only the lighter song's instrumental was released on it. Not one for Cube.
This album is very light-hearted. Introducing a more religious song, Maria, an industrial-styled song, Uncontrol, and a sex song, Papa lapped a pap lopped, this album must be the oddest mix of music Gackt has yet to release. The heaviest song on the album's Kalmia, I think. Just because there's an instrumental part of it that there's alot of heavy guitar. It's a lovely combination of ballads and metal that will make you fall in love with Gackt all over again.

Forgive my mean-spirited ribbing, but Gackt's English is atrocious in this single. But, hey, at least he tried. Another World is a fast-paced, Moonchild-esque song of the city life. The ballad he has attached to this single is one of my favorite Gackt songs. In my top 3. Fragrance has a beautiful tone to it that makes you want to put it on repeat as you fall asleep at night. As slow and calming as it is, the image Gackt paints with the melodic words are a bit deeper than the song's light sound lets on. And you get a wonderful taste of Chachamaru's acoustic guitar in the background. Contrary to his usual pattern, Gackt released Another World's instrumental with this single, instead of the ballad's.
There's more to say about this song than I think I can bear to type. Gackt released this song as a tribute to those who suffered the effects of 9/11. To the families and the friends of those lost in the tragedy. This single was the Japanese version. But he also released the song in Chinese, Korean, and English. My views are that he wants the song to be heard in every language so that anyone affected could understand it. In the PV for this song, you see Gackt, running around New York City (and I missed it T_T), asking people to write their own messages on a pad of paper. Some said "World Peace" and things like that while others opted for a more universal idea of "Live and let live" or such things. At the end of the PV, Gackt signs the banner at Ground Zero to show his condolences. This single also included the instrumental version of the song.
Why in the bloody hell the guy seperates the kanji like he does to break the word up, I've no clue. Nor have I found any rumors or theories on why he does it. But the song's pheonominal. Written for the times he almost died, "I will not forget'' is one that no one will forget. The video filled of imagery of drowning and motorcycles, Gackt tells his story of how he'll never forget his close calls with death. Doomsday is the other song on the disc. A beautiful song with changing tempos and beats. The disc contains the instrumental for Wasurenaikara, but not Doomsday.
Moon opens with a beautiful tribal-like instrumental that leads into the rock-hard Lu:na (I have no idea why the colon's there...). Lu:na will wake you up if the melodic african instruments were putting you to sleep. The rest of the album's actually more depressing than any of his others. With a song of death, wasurenaikara, a few ballads like Fragrance, Missing, and Rain, and then some more rock-style songs like Another World and Doomsday... Even the sex song, Speed Master, is about longing for his lover. Memories is maybe the happiest song on the album and even that could be depressing if you read the lyrics.

This is the lovely song we heard the first time in Japanese, and the instrumental again. But, as an added bonus, we got the song in English, dubbed December Love. December Love has amazing English lyrics. And Gackt... er... tries to carry them out well.

Bringing in the new year with his new single, Gackt opts for an upbeat inspirational song and a ballad-type inspirational song in one. Kimi ga Oikaketa Yume and Birdcage both have instrumentals on this single, just to change things up a bit. Kimi ga Oikaketa Yume has a vision in the video of him dying, being hit by a car, to be specific. Really, I don't know what the guy's obsession is with dying. x.x;
Two beautiiful soft ballads on one disc, both with instrumentals. I believe both are totally acoustic, and are quiet enough to put you to sleep. But they really are beautiful. Perfect lullabies. If you can sleep with music on, I definately recommend this single on repeat.
Not sure why he decided to combine these two on a single, but I'm very glad he did. Both come with astounding instrumentals and the two together on the disc seem to fit somehow. In my mind, I see Lu:na as black leather and a moon, and oasis as a sepia-toned desert... And somehow... It works together.
Last song and Solitary. I have to admit, Last Song used to be in my top 3 favorite Gackt songs. I seem to have grown out of it after having listened to it so much, however. It's a beautiful song and the PV's very emotional. Solitary is a softer, lighter song than Last Song, but paints more of a mental picture even if you don't understand the words. Both instrumentals are on this single, as well.
My bad taste in music comes back to haunt me in this album. There's a few songs I don't care very much for in here but I'll try to behave. Now, with that in mind, I love this album. And not because I'm trying to behave. I love it for the sheer fact that my absolute favorite song's on it. Kimi ga matteiru kara. The orchestra mixed into the music makes it so strong and powerful even though it's just a love ballad... and I'm rambling... Anyway... Dybbuk is an awesome song, showing off Gackt's awesome rapping skills. And Orenji no Taiyou is a wonderful treat. The theme song of the Award-Winning Moonchild, starring Gackt and HYDE, featuring a duet of the two of them to end the album. Worth the entire 8 minutes of listening to the last song.

Another unique album, Seventh Night's meant for people that aren't so much into the hard-core background music or overpowering electronic intruments. This album is completely 'unplugged', or acoustic. It's either bongo drums and acoustic guitars or the band members making the beat on the table in the back of the studio and a violin. Whatever the combination, the soft instuments and Gackt's beautiful voice make this a very calming collection of his music, and a way to see some of his songs differently. Please note, U+K on this album is an instrumental. (Sort of reminds me of something out of Kingdom Hearts.)

More love ballads, yay! As usual, the soft piano in this song makes me fall asleep with Gackt's melodic voice. A strong longing song, he seems to be trying to reach whoever he's singing of with his slight crescendos and held notes. The other song on this single, Peace, is very cute and more of a puppy-love song than a love ballad. Both songs have their instrumentals on this single, as well.
Arittake no Aide and Kono Yoru ga Owaru Mae Ni are a pair of really cute love songs. Arittake no Ai de being the more upbeat type wedding song, then Kono Yoru ga Owaru Mae Ni being the ballad type. The video for Arittake no Ai de is really surreal. And it's hard to understand, since there seems to be a Gackt impersonator in it and Gackt singing in the ear of some old man. O.o Yeah it's fun. And he finnishes the video with a cute parlor trick. Kono Yoru ga Owaru Mae Ni is really soft and illustrates the idea of a really tranquil longing-type love song. Both instrumentals are also included on the disc.
Love Letter is a gorgeous album that can only be explained as a beautiful love ballad put into the form of an album. With a few new songs that'll make you cry, like Tea Cup and Etude, and some of the old favorites such as Dears, Love Letter is one of the calmest albums Gackt released. As though he's singing to an old girlfriend in every song, the romance of the album will take your breath away.

Black Stone is a little more on the rock side, pulling away from his recent 'slow-song' album. The song is rumored to have been written for someone, but I don't know who. Also, bear in mind that Black Stone probably refers to Onyx, a stone he likes to give to others on jewelery because he believes it protects them. Ash is the other song released on this single, with a more melodramatic feel to it. It's no love song, but it's slow. Instrumentals to both are also included on the disc.
Metamorphoze was written for the Gundam movie, but I'm not a Gundam fan so I'm not going to leave my 2 cents on that. But I will tell you the song is awesome. Kimi ga Metteiru Kara, I'll save you the fangirl-ness since I told you elsewhere I'm obsessed with that song. Instrumentals of both are also on this CD.
No, not every song from the original, Japanese, release is on the Korean version. Which, indeed, sucks. However, we still get some nice Korean music from Gackt. My personal faves are Sakurasou and Kono Yoru Ga Owaru Mae Ni. >.>

Absolutely awesome single. A gothic-style rockish love song and a necromancy song all in one. Noesis has a slight hint of techno in it that makes it a lovely 'repeat' song. Todokanai has alot of power and emotion in it, and, multiple times, I've seen Gackt cry on stage when performing it. Usually performed in a 1600's styled outfit and with a sword of some sort out as a prop, it emits the feel of a vampire kind of love song and it's in my top songs. <3 The instrumentals are both included.

My absolute favorite album of Gackt's. Period. Combining slight hints of techno and mostly rock, the fast-paced sound of Diabolos is one that most rock-lovers will enjoy. It opens with a calm instrumental, Misty, then eases into the darker rock side of the album.

Redemption was the first song I ever heard of Gackt's. Yeah, yeah, I know. I was late in the game. But that doesn't mean I'm not a hard-core Gacktophile! And besides... I like Longing better. *Ahem* Anyway... These two songs were written for the Dirge of Cerberus game. And the single supposedly comes with both instrumentals, though I've not yet run into someone with both Inst. from the disc... Also, as a stupid piece of random information, Gackt did the motion capture for Genisis in the game and the Japanese voice acting for him. But not the English. >_> I went out in a blizzard to get this game.... and never really played it. Dx *fail*

Well he re-released two songs on a single, why I'm not sure. But they do go well together. Dybbuk and Love Letter are two totally opposite songs, a love ballad and a rap song... But they do work okay together on a single. As far as eI know, instrumentals were not released on this single.
Well this one, I'm not sure of. I've never seen it listed except for on one reliable source (gackt-camui.net) nor have I seen most of the versions listed on it. I, myself, have 3 versions... December Love, the original 12Gatsu no Love Song, and the Chinese version... But until I'm informed otherwise, this will be here.

NOTE: This is copied verbatum from Gackt Syndrome. I'm not in the mood to go looking for the trans-continental lyrics to this album right now, so I'm just leaving it as is. If anyone has any information on this album, (where to find lyrics... or the Korean version... >.>;; ) Please contact me.
As gorgeous of a song as all of the versions are, I really don't think he needed this many... But at any rate, he's been seen singing this song at a High School on Youtube. And I believe there's something to do with Kami. If you have any information on what really happened in that clip, please share.

RETURNER ~Yami no Shuuen~ is a beautiful ballad that has a slight hint of traditional asian style and more hard-core approach to a ballad. In the video, Gackt is dressed up as a Samurai and singing amongst a bloody fight. Which is awesome to watch. Noesis and Cube are also on the disc, tying in the hard-core sound without going overboard. But those two tracks are live. Something uncommon on his discs. Also, RETURNER's instrumental is included.
Yeah, I don't get the numbers either... If anyone has a clue, email me about it and I'll put the explaination here or something. Because I'm totally lost. I thought at first maybe they were years or something. But search me. Reguardless, onto my two cents: This album was epic. It was really one of the first ones that I waited for the release on. I didn't get into Gackt until early-mid 2007. I think... x.x But despite that it's marinated in his old music, he did have a few new songs on here. Like, for instance, Ai Senshi. However, this is not a Gackt original, but a cover. This and, I believe, Meguriai, were redone Gundam songs. Which is cool, even though I don't like mechs. *Hush.* I think the instrumental in the middle is really the only song he really wrote for this. And I may be mistaken about that, as well.

To avoid getting flamed over my big mouth, I'll suffice it to say I rather liked the video due to it's graphic twist on Christianity's deity 'Jesus' and leave it at that. I'm not Christian, so I won't push my luck and ramble on about it. One new song and an old one that he revamped. Sayounara's more epic this way, in my opinion. I e-gasm over You on the violin. *_* *Drool*

Yay~ Gackt techno-ish. I fell in love with the song when I first heard it. And the video is awesome... Poor janitor... *Gigglesnork.* Anywho, Blue Lagoon is the other song on this single. I can only equate this song with a strange 'singing demonic song in a church' sort of feel. It's actually rather enticing and fun to have on repeat if you're doing something active... Or dungeon crawling in an MMO or something. xD Both songs have instrumentals included on the single.
*Gasp* A milestone in Gackt's career, this is his 30th single... ;D Written for the opening of a Japanese TV show, there's a solemn sound to it, but still remaining powerful. There's 3 instrumentals included on this disc. All different.
This one's a fun album. An upbeat addition to the countdown series, Faraway features Gackt's gorgeous asian naked rear end on the cover... *Drools....* >_>;; *Ahem* For this one, I found interesting notes on Wiki... "Gackt promised his fanbase, he will remove all clothes from himself and band for the Deares version of "Faraway" " Ha! Dreams come true~ <3
For those of us that are retarded in the way of Kanji, the rest of the name of the song "Faraway" is "Hoshi ni Negai wo". Oblivious, I haven't a clue. FYI, I've no idea what it translates to... Dx *Phail* Both instrumentals are included, as usual.

Really a beautiful single. And three songs, which is really different from the previous countdown singles. Lost Angels starts out reminscing on the opening to with one of his older songs, though, off the top of my head, I can't think of which one. The song's gorgeous. And during one live, he has white feathers rain down on the stage. Which touched me into obsessing over the song. No Reason is really heavy. Something to wake up to in the morning. but, despite the difference in the first two tracks, the single's not thrown off at all. Because Suddenly kind of ties it all together with a cool mix. It's slow but popp-ish with a soft metal sound in the background. All three songs have instrumentals, of course.

Flower's a wonderful song switching between slow and pop and Gackt sings it with that... cute tone... The same tone from Marmalade... You know the one. *Wink*. In Flames is a soft song, relaxing and putting you to sleep. Until the chorus... Where the song pauses for a moment then BLOWS into a pop song, which will snap you out of your Gackt-coma like someone just shot off a gun... Not... that... I would know... or anything... >_>;;
